The main goal of the project is to develop a complex multi-criteria methodology for evaluating ecological and energy efficiency and choosing transport technology in urban conditions.
The achievement of the objectives of the project is related to the solution of the following tasks:
- Mathematical modelling and development of a complex multi-criteria methodology for evaluating the ecological and energy efficiency of transport;
- Research and modelling of urban vehicle traffic management systems;
- Modelling of electric urban passenger transport routes;
- Defining the areas of heavy traffic in the urban transport network and studying their environmental indicators;
- Study of the influence of technical indicators of vehicles and road surfaces on pollution and traffic safety;
- Study of the type of fuel, its processing and purity on the reduction of carbon emissions, dust particles and nitrogen oxides; Formulation of new purified diesel fuels and utilization of waste materials from fuel production into new types of fuels;
- Study of the influence of the structure of fuels on the improvement of their environmental parameters; Creation of modified diesel fuel with quality indicators approaching the norms of the euro 7 standard;
- Conducting laboratory tests with new types of liquid and gaseous fuels to obtain new knowledge and facts about their environmental parameters; Exploring the possibilities of hydrogen transportation in an urban environment;
- Impact study and sensitivity analysis of evaluation criteria to gain knowledge about relationships and dependencies in the studied system; risk assessment for the change of optimal decisions.
The research objectives are related to the use of engineering knowledge in several areas, such as: modelling and optimization of transport, transport technology, chemistry, energy, economics and ecology.
The expected results are reduced to:
- Creation of a complex methodology for multi-criteria evaluation and selection of energy and ecological efficiency of transportation in urban conditions;
- Obtaining experimental results and facts from tests in laboratory conditions for new types of liquid and gaseous fuels, giving grounds for scientifically based conclusions and new facts about the behaviour of the studied system;
- Formation of a team solving fundamental scientific tasks and carrying out research in the field of organization and energy efficiency of transport.
